While the Winnipeg Jets are still getting over the fact that they were eliminated in five games in the Western Conference finals by the Vegas Golden Knights back in May, some players on the roster appear to be having more interesting offseason than others.

Jets star forward Patrik Laine is one of them, and he will have quite the story to tell his teammates once he gets back to Winnipeg for training camp in September.

Laine played hero during a flight as a scary incident took place on board the plane. According to Juna Hiitela, former National Hockey League writer and sports reporter in Finland, Laine apparently helped calm some kids Monday night who were frightened by a drunken passenger causing a disturbance aboard a flight from Malaga, Spain to Helsinki.

The reporter of the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat added that the flight had to make an unscheduled stop in Paris, where police arrested an unruly man and removed him from the plane. Another passenger told a reporter several kids were upset by the incident, but that Laine, who was aboard the flight, did everything he could to lightened the mood by talking to them, signing autographs and posing for pictures. He spent time with the each child, helping them relax, the passenger added to the newspaper.

Laine even joked around with one of the young passengers who was wearing a cap bearing the logo of the Nashville Predators, whom the Jets beat in seven games during the second round of the postseason. We bet this kid will be rooting for Laine and the Jets, from now on...

It is believed that Laine was on a golf trip in Spain and was returning home to Finland.

This is just a wonderful story, which ended well for once. Laine, who is expected to enter contract negotiations soon as he has one year left on his three-year entry-level deal and will command a huge pay increase ahead of the 2019-20 season, is able to focus on the most important things in life, despite a heartbreaking end to the season.

So far in his brilliant NHL career, Laine has tallied 80 goals and added 54 assists in 155 games. During the Jets' exciting spring playoff run, he managed to score five goals and added seven assists in a total of 17 games.

A hero on and off the ice!
