The Winnipeg Jets could wait until Mark Scheifele’s return next month before reaching a decision on potential deadline moves. The star forward has been sidelined since the end of December with an upper-body injury, but his return will be major help for the Jets, who are expected to be buyers at the upcoming deadline this season.
Scheifele was a point-per-game player with 15 goals and 38 points in 38 outings and centered the Jets’ top line and his return to action will be an enormous boost to the Jets' offense. However, the Jets might still be looking to add a high-skilled, offensive forward who can plug into their top two lines, and to receive, you must give a well.
One player that could be used as trade chip is centre Nic Petan, who has made the TSN's trade bait list this week. The 22-year-old has played a total of 86 games in the NHL, in which he recorded three goals and 19 points, and could be an interesting piece to offer on the market to land that offensive boost.
However, there has been plenty of interest in Jack Roslovic, who is a point-per-game player for the AHL’s Manitoba Moose this season, who could also be pried out of Winnipeg.
The Jets clearly have interesting baits to land what they seek on the market, but will they be ready to part with promising players like Petan and Roslovic to achieve it?
