This is not what you want to see in a hockey game.
We all love seeing some rough stuff, a good fight, a good clean hit - but a two-handed hack and shoving someone into the boards when they're flying in at full speed are reckless and unnecessary plays that need to be eradicated from the game.
Colorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson took his frustration out on Tampa Bay Lightning forward Vladislav Namestnikov while his team was down 4-1 on Saturday night.
Here is the play in question.
Johnson earned 17 penalty minutes, including a game misconduct. His actions will certainly be looked at by the NHL Player Safety Department, which has not shied away as of late from handing out fines and suspensions.
What do you think - does this play warrant a suspension?
