It’s been a whirlwind offseason for Toronto Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri. First the Leafs managed to snag his former London Knights teammate, superstar John Tavares on the opening day of free agency and now… well he’s spending time with a former Leafs star.

Kadri recently shared a selfie with former Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf on Instagram, saying simply, “Always catching up.”

Check it out:

The best part of this social media moment however came in the comments where Kadri absolutely ROASTED a fan who commented on Kadri and Phaneuf’s apparent lack of foot speed.

Check it out:

Here’s the exhange, for those not able to make it out in the above image.

Instagram user thall2413 says, “With your guys speed it’s no wonder you’re always catching up!! You two pylons are always behind!”

Kadri’s quick reply, “only thing behind is ur hairline u nerd.”

BOOM! ROASTED!

C’mon thall2413… you should know by now not to chirp Nazem Kadri. The guy is one of the best pests in the entire NHL and you think you’re going to rile him up on an Instagram post? Give your head a shake, bud…

In any case, the 2018-19 season will be a pivotal one for Kadri and the Leafs. It’s expected that Kadri will once again hold down the third line center position, this time behind Tavares and Auston Matthews. But, he’ll be without his longtime linemate Leo Komarov as the he signed a four year, $12 million deal with the New York Islanders on the opening day of NHL free agency.

Instead, Kadri will likely center a line between youngsters Andreas Johnsson and Kasperi Kapanen. The 27 year old Kadri matched his career high in goals last season with 32 goals in 80 games. He managed just two assists in four playoff games because, of course, he was suspended for a brutal hit from behind on Boston Bruins forward Tommy Wingels in the teams’ first round playoff series.

In the end Kadri ended up with 32 goals and 55 points in 80 games during the 2017-18 regular season. Not bad for a lowly third line center, not bad at all.
