Imminent move coming up?

With the holiday roster freeze done and over with, several National Hockey League clubs are going all out to make major moves in time for the postseason. Others are going in full-blown sale mode to focus on the future of the franchise.

The latter is the case for the Buffalo Sabres as the interesting for top winger Evander Kane is picking up steam. The 26-year-old is almost guaranteed to be traded before the deadline and now several teams are expressing serious interest to land him.

The Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vegas Golden Knights, St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks and New York Islanders are among the teams interested in Kane. The Pittsburgh Penguins are also in the mix, as they seem to be with every trade chip on the block.

The top forward has a $5.25 million salary cap hit, and has tallied 15 goals and 34 points in 37 contests thus far this season.

A big return is expected to come Sabres GM Jason Botterill's way as he has been asking for a first-round draft pick, a top prospect and either another high draft pick or high-level prospect.

This would be the move that really gets the trade deadline going!
