We are pretty sure that this woman will not be allowed to gamble in Las Vegas. As best said by The Hockey News' Adam Proteau following the Vegas Golden Knights' 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, leading them to the Stanley Cup final, the Las Vegas establishments will just not allow it:
"The Las Vegas Golden Knights are Western Conference champions. If you knew this was going to happen, Vegas kindly requests that you not gamble in its establishments," posted Proteau on his Twitter account.
At the very beginning of the season, a woman from Levis, a suburb outside of Quebec City, Canada, made a bet with her boyfriend. As reported by the weekend morning show "Salut, Bonjour", very popularly over the province of Quebec, Claudie Lamoureux revealed that she gambled with her boyfriend Réjean Langlois claiming that the Vegas Golden Knights would go to the Stanley Cup final in their inaugural season.
"He laughed and said it would never happen," said the woman on the Sunday morning's show, before the Game 5 against the Jets in Winnipeg.
Rejean Langlois, who was convinced that such an outcome was impossible for the new National Hockey League expansion team, accepted the dangerous wager from his girlfriend.
"I have been nervous since October," laughed off Langlois, who now had to admit that he believes that the Golden Knights will win the ultimate trophy.
And we all know what happened. Vegas won the Western Conference Finals in five games over the Winnipeg Jets and are waiting for the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Washington Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lighting. In Manitoba on Sunday afternoon, the Golden Knights grabbed their ticket to the Stanley Cup final by winning Game 5 by the final score of 2-1 over the Jets.
Now Langlois' life is about to change.
The wedding is expected to take place in Las Vegas, as it was part of the wager put together by Claudie Lamoureux. When she was interviewed prior to the Knights' win, she had revealed that she had not started planning the big day in fear on jinxing her chances.
However, not that the team has moved on to the Stanley Cup final, we bet she will get her wedding gown and get the party started!
