A Toronto Maple Leafs prospect has been left off of his World Juniors squad at the very last minute and no one seems to know why.

A report from Kevin McGran of the Toronto Star has revealed that defenseman Eemeli Rasanen has been left off of Team Finland's World Junior Championship roster despite the fact that he remains with the team.

According to McGran Rasanen remains eligible to play in the tournament and could be called upon at any time given the fact that Finland now have an open spot on their roster for the IIHF tournament.

Eemeli Rasanen was the Leafs second round pick at the 2017 National Hockey League Entry Draft and has been playing with Kingston of the Ontario Hockey League, he remains in Buffalo for the time being in case he is called upon by Finland.
