Who is Jamie Oleksiak?

The Pittsburgh Penguins made two trades today, and one of them was to acquire defenseman Jamie Oleksiak from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a 2019 fourth round pick.

Oleksiak, drafted 14th overall by the Stars in 2011, spent five full seasons with the Dallas organization, playing a career high of 41 games in the NHL last season, the only season he spent entirely in the NHL. The Toronto, Ontario native produced 22 points in 140 played in the NHL so far. At the AHL level, the 6'7", 255 pounds defenseman produced 80 points in 204 games (regular season and playoffs included).

Before being traded to the Penguins, he had three points, 18 penalty minutes and a defensive differential of minus six.

Fun fact: Jamie sister, Penny, won four medals with the Canadian swimming team in the 2016 Summer Olympics, when she was only 16-year old. She became the only Canadian to win four medals at the same Summer Games, and the country's youngest Olympic champion.

There is some good athlete genes running in that familly, eh?
