Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford made two trades today, and one of them was to acquire goaltender Michael Leighton and a fourth round pick in 2019 for Josh Archibald, Sean Maguire and a sixth round pick in 2019.
Leighton, 36, was drafted 165th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1999. He started 111 games in the NHL with the Blackhawks, the Nashville Predators, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Carolina Hurricanes, and has a record of 37-43-14 with a 2.98 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage. He played in the Stanley Cup Final in 2010, when the Flyers lost to the Blackhawks.
Leighton hasn't start a game in the NHL yet this season.
