The Pittsburgh Penguins took on the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night - and it featured the first matchup between Matt Murray and Marc-Andre Fleury.
Prior to puck drop, the two goalies met near center ice to greet each other as old friends.
Murray revealed that admittedly they were a bit short on words.
“I just said, ‘I miss you in the room. I’m glad that you’re healthy.’ ” Murray explained afterward to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Jason Mackey. “He just said kind of the same thing. We both said, 'Good luck.'
Both goalies had been dealing with injuries, with Fleury's significantly more serious. He'd been out since October with a concussion and had only returned this week.
Fleury got the better of Murray in a tightly-contested matchup, getting the 2-1 victory in regulation.
Now we wait for when Vegas comes to Pittsburgh on February 6th, as the ovation from Penguins fans will surely be as raucous as a playoff win.
