If you happened to catch the Edmonton Oilers’ game Saturday night against the Vegas Golden Knights on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, you may have assumed that the Oilers were playing a home game. In fact, the Oilers were the visiting team at T-Mobile Arena, but with thousands of loud, boisterous Oilers fans in attendance, you’d never know it.
Oilers fans cheered their boys on the entire game, outnumbering Vegas hockey fans almost two-to-one in the crowd. Everywhere you looked there were blue and orange jerseys, so much so that it was reminiscent of last season’s Orange Crush playoff run.
Check out this clip from the game to get a real sense of just how crazy things were in Vegas:
Awesome! Not going to lie, we’re incredibly jealous. Looking out the window at a Winter Wonderland, a Vegas Vacation seems like a FANTASTIC idea.
Anyways, you know the rest of the story. Captain Connor McDavid collected his 200th NHL point on his 21st birthday and even received a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” from the Oilers faithful at the 9:07 mark of the first period.

Defenceman Darnell Nurse scored the OT game winner and Oilers fans all went off into the night ready to party it up Edmonton style on the Las Vegas Strip.
But, one Oilers fan, Rod Rousseau of Calgary, had even more reason to celebrate. Rousseau, a long time Oilers fan, split a 50/50 ticket purchase with some friends from Edmonton, Julio Rojo and Cassie Leggio and ended up winning $70,680 USD!
Rousseau and friends hit the Las Vegas Strip and partied like never before!
“With the people I was with, basically I went to the ATM, took out all the American [money] I could, split that amongst us and said, ‘Let’s go gamble,'” Rousseau told Global News yesterday. “In good Vegas fashion after that, we went out and partied until about five in the morning.”
