Pittsburgh Penguins forward Daniel Sprong opened the scoring against the New York Islanders on Friday night, thanks to a perfect pass from team captain Sidney Crosby. The Penguins are currently leading 3-0 after the second period.
Sprong, drafted 46th overall by the Penguins in 2015, is playing his fourth game in the NHL this season, after he had registered 28 points in 29 games in the AHL with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He scored his first goal since he was called up.
Evegni Malkin scored his 15th of the season on the power play to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Later in the period, Crosby also scored his 15th of the season.
Before tonight's game, the Penguins were seventh in the Metropolitan division with a record of 20-19-3.
