Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Ron Hainsey scored on the powerplay against the New York Rangers on Saturday night, giving his team a 2-0 lead only 50 seconds into the second period. This goal with the man advantage was the first point for Hainsey on the powerplay since April 11th of 2009, when he was playing with the Atlanta Trashers.
Hainsey was signed as a free agent by the Maple Leafs last summer. He played 943 games in the NHL, registering 268 points, and added eight points in 25 playoff games.
Before tonight's game, the 37-year old defenseman registered 15 points in 36 games played.
The Maple Leafs are currently leading the Rangers 3-1 after the second period.
