National Hockey League fans and insiders held their breath last night, when New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider left the game, against the Washington Capitals, and did not return.
At the time, NHL.com's Dan Rosen was reporting that no injury has been referenced for Kreider, and so, speculation was of course that the Rangers had a trade in place and wanted to make sure he does not get hurt.
Not so fast...
It was finally revealed that Kreider did indeed suffer an upper-body injury, though head coach Alain Vigneault remained very mysterious about what might have taken place.
“We’ll know more [Thursday],” said Vigneault.
With 28 seconds left in the first period, Kreider nearly scored on a deflection from the high slot. It is believed that Kreider, who has 11 goals and 22 points, was ill.
We will keep an eye on it...
