Larry Brooks of The New York Post recently reported that the Arizona Coyotes have sent the word out that winger Max Domi is available in trade talks.
But, wait a minute!
Coyotes general manager John Chayka has refuted the speculation suggesting the team was shopping Domi, and was quite adamant about it.
“I don’t know where they get this stuff,” Chayka told AZ Central.
Arizona continues their rebuild, though they have now been more aggressive than in the past seasons. Not long after trading Anthony Duclair to the Chicago Blackhawks, this rumor now says that they are fielding offers for Domi, but Chayka's response seems quite clear.
However, the GM did mention that the team will “listen on anything.”
The 22-year-old Domi has just three goals and 22 points in 52 games this season with a minus-20 rating. He had a great inaugural season as a rookie in 2015-16, scoring 18 goals and 52 points in 81 games, but has posted a total of just 12 goals over his 111 games since.
Is the rebuttal a way to better plan a trade for Domi, or will the Coyotes hold on to the young forward in their rebuilding phase?
Which teams should make a move on the gritty forward?
