As a National Hockey League fan, you probably had the same reaction as everybody else when it was announced that the Chicago Blackhawks were facing the Boston Bruins at Notre Dame Stadium in 2019 - the Hawks, AGAIN?!

Sure, we can understand: the Blackhawks won three Stanley Cups in the past seven years, they are a franchise and fans will pay to see Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane in action, especially outdoors for this special occasion. BUT.

As NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reveals in his Sportsnet's 31 Thoughts, it's time for new blood.

"There are always complaints about Chicago’s outdoor appearances, but I look at it this way: You get what you earn. Some new teams are climbing the mountain, and their merits are being discussed," Friedman writes.

And he is right.

However, let's look at who is sitting atop the NHL right now...

As Friedman notes, the Tampa Bay Lightning makes sense, but, as we even thinking of the possibility of a game down South? The insider does note that the state of Florida does not host outdoor games, but the Lightning should be on top of the list for the next NHL Winter Classic.

We often see, besides the Hawks and Bruins, the Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers take part in the special contests.

After all, the NHL found a way to host an outdoor game in Los Angeles a few year ago - so, why not!?

Would you like to see them try?
