The Erik Karlsson trade rumors are through the roof, and USA Today's Kevin Allan decided to imagine the star defenseman elsewhere, while explaining what it would cost for the team looking to acquire him.

According to Allan, "the Senators will probably ask for a package that includes a young defenseman, a young center, a first-round pick, a second-round pick and another prospect."

It is believed that the New York Rangers would be a strong contender to land Karlsson, and Allan suggests that the Blue Shirts would need to give up  defenseman Brady Skjei and prospect center Lias Andersson.

The Rangers are expected to be in the running for Karlsson, if he becomes available, since veteran goalie Henrik Lundqvist is turning 36 this spring and New York is going all out in win mode for him.

It would also be a good timing for the Rangers' cap space situation.

"With Rick Nash’s $7.8 million contract coming off the books this offseason, the Rangers would be able to accommodate the signing of Karlsson moving forward."

Allan's plan sounds good, what do you think Rangers' fans?
