Recap: Arenas crush Hurricanes in Next Century Game

Nothing like some afternoon delight to break out of a slump!

The Toronto Maple Leafs, or rather their alternate ego the Toronto Arenas, steamrolled the Carolina Hurricanes yesterday in a lopsided matinee game. 

Mitch Marner set a career high for points in a game with four and the Leafs managed to get offense out of their entire lineup, leading to an incredible 8-1 victory. Frederik Andersen made several jaw-dropping saves and James van Riemsdyk scored the franchise’s 20,000th goal.

For those not aware, yesterday’s game marked the official 100 year anniversary, to the date, of the creation of both the NHL and the Leafs franchise. While many fans weren’t thrilled with the early start time, it’s hard to argue with the results.

Leo Komarov opened the scoring just three minutes in and things only got better from that point forward. For a full recap of the game, check out the highlights below:
