The Toronto Maple Leafs are gearing up to play against the New York Rangers on Saturday night, and one player is itching to get into the lineup.
Martin Marincin was called up in the wake of Nikita Zaitsev's injury - but instead of having him draw into the lineup, Connor Carrick and Roman Polak filled the spots on the blue line.
Head coach Mike Babcock spoke to the media today, saying that "Marincin is dying to get in," according to The Athletic's James Mirtle.
The coach then proceeded to announce that he has scratched Marincin for a second consecutive game.
Despite poor showings in last year's playoffs and this year's training camp, Marincin has turned things around in his time with the Toronto Marlies, proving to be an effective defenseman and possession player.
Hopefully he gets his chance soon.
