According to a report from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Calgary Flames have received significant trade interest for 2017 first round pick Juuso Valimaki.
Calgary is getting asked about 2017 first-rounder Juuso Valimaki, but that’s not happening.
The 16th overall pick is having another outstanding season with the WHL’s Tri-City Americans, despite dealing with a nagging lower-body injury for much of the season. The 19-year-old defenceman has five goals and 23 points in 23 games with Tri-City and was also named team captain for his native Finland during last month’s 2018 World Junior Championships.
The smooth skating blue liner figures to be a big part of the team’s defensive core and the Flames would be wise to hold on to him rather than trade him away for a deadline rental.
