Colorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson will have a hearing today for boarding Tampa Bay Lightning forward Vladislav Namestnikov in yesterday's game, the NHL Player Safety department confirmed on Twitter. Players who go through in person hearings usually end up with a minimum suspension of five games.
Johnson, 29, was drafted first overall by the St.Louis Blues in 2006. He was traded to the Avalanche in 2001. In 607 games played in the NHL with St.Louis and Colorado, he registered 249 points, and added two points in seven playoff games.
