Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews missed his 6th consecutive game with the team last night with a mysterious “upper body injury”. While the 20-year-old phenom has taken to the ice the past four days, the team has still not given a timeline for his return, leading to speculation amongst fans and analysts that Matthews’ injury may be more serious than first reported.
Fortunately, a report this morning from Toronto Sun’s Kevin McGran indicates that a return to the lineup for Matthews may be sooner rather than later. McGran speculates that Matthews will likely sit out Saturday’s game against the New York Rangers, but the four day rest in between games should give him enough respite to get into the lineup against his hometown Arizona Coyotes on Dec, 28th.
What do you think? Should the Leafs shut Matthews down for Saturday’s game regardless?
