According to a report from Sportsnet analyst and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Nashville Predators are “all in” on New York Rangers star Rick Nash.
Nashville definitely is all in on Rick Nash. The question is if they can outbid a large field?
The problem is that Predators GM David Poile has already traded away three valuable trade chips in Sam Girard, Vladislav Kamenev and a second round pick in the trade to acquire Kyle Turris. Are they willing to ship a 1st round pick to the Rangers in exchange for Nash? How about a top prospect like Eeli Tolvanen or Dante Fabbro? Because that’s the asking price for Nash. A pick, a prospect and a roster player. Ouch.
In 57 games this season with the Rangers, the 33-year-old Nash has 17 goals and 27 points. Now, that’s a far cry from the 40+ goals and 90+ points he used to put up in his heyday, but he’s still a very valuable player in the right situation. The big, left-shooting right-winger seems like a natural fit to play alongside Preds center Ryan Johansen, the question is though… is he worth the cost of acquisition?
