The Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Arizona Coyotes tonight - hoping to break out of this funk they're in. Losers of 4 out of their last 5, all by one goal, Mike Sullivan hopes that the team's strong possession statistics will start translating into tangibles - otherwise known as goals.
Here are the lines that were rolled in practice.
As it stands, Patric Hornqvist will continue on his off wing, despite not looking so great there in the past. He qualified his play on the left wing as "fine, just fine."
Bryan Rust has also been placed on the fourth line, although Sullivan doesn't see it as a demotion.
“Listen, I love Rusty's game,” Sullivan said. “He can skate. He's an energy guy. He brings our team speed to another level when he's at his best, and we're trying to help him get there.”
Tom Kuhnhackl rotated in on Sidney Crosby's line - he's been a scratch as of late, recovering from an injury. Dominik Simon is currently slotted on the top line and Crosby likes what he's seen from him, citing his hockey sense and quick hands.
“He's really smart,” Crosby said, according to Jonathan Bombulie of TribLIVE. “He's got good hands. He can make those plays in tight, those little plays, give-and-goes and things like that. I think the biggest thing is his hockey sense and the plays he can make.”
Simon has 2 assists in 3 games and it's unlikely Kuhnhackl takes his spot tonight.
Look for Matt Murray to get his second start after recovering from an injury that saw him miss action from November 27th up until this past Thursday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
