Ottawa Senators head coach Guy Boucher will have to deal with the absence of several players for the team's next game against the Florida Panthers on Saturday. As reported on Twitter by hockey insider Don Brennan, goaltender Craig Anderson (illness) and forwards Bobby Ryan (swollen finger) and Zack Smith (shoulder injury) will all be out of the lineup. Both Anderson and Ryan are expected to play against the Boston Bruins on December 27th, but Smith will likely be out for at least two weeks.
Adding to that, defenseman Dion Phaneuf will not be joining the team in Florida, as he and his wife gave birth to their first child on Thursday.
The Senators are struggling so far this season, as they are currently seventh in the Atlantic division with a record of 11-14-8.
