It seems like the Los Angeles Kings have no intention of losing Drew Doughty for nothing.
With another year left on his current contract, superstar defensemen has already set the tone, publicly stating that he was worth more than Nashville's PK Subban and his 9 million dollar a year salary.
According to TSN insider Darren Dreger it is believed the Kings would like to sign Doughty as soon as next July and they would already be prepared to dish out at least 11 million dollars a year on him.
"LA Kings think they'd be real fortunate to get him with something that says 11 million in front of it. So 11.5, 11.75, whatever it is. 12 million or less is going to be a bonus."
Doughty could very well end up with a near 100 million dollar contract, the most for any defenseman in the NHL. This would be a game changer and have a direct impact on Erik Karlsson's next contract as well.
