Report: Toronto won the shortest NHL game in its history 100 years ago today

Now this is a crazy story.

Back in 1918, some history was made - unfortunately at the expense of a burned down arena.

The Toronto Arenas were one of four teams in the original iteration of the National Hockey League a century ago. The Montreal Wanderers were forced to quit the league that season due to the burned down arena - and they never returned.

The loss of the Wanderers left the NHL with only 3 teams to finish off that season. The Arenas won the Stanley Cup that season, becoming the first NHL team to do so in the league's storied history.
