Report: Trade brewing between Pittsburgh and Colorado

This is the first time this name is in the discussion, but why not?

Sportsnet hockey insider Sonny Sachdeva suggested five potential trade partners for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and one of them is pretty interesting, considering the need Pittsburgh has at the center position.

Sachdeva suggests that one of the players that could be a good option for the Penguins is Colorado Avalanche forward Carl Soderberg. He is a veteran forward that proved he can contribute offensively, and he has a good all around play, exactly the kind of center the Penguins are looking for this season. Soderberg, 32, was drafted 49th overall by the St.Louis Blues in 2004. He never played with them, as he was traded to the Boston Bruins in 2007. The Swedish forward only began his NHL career in 2012. The Bruins traded him to the Avalanche in 2015. In 352 games played so far in the NHL, he registered 172 points, and added six points in 14 playoff games.

So far this season, Soderberg has 13 points in 29 games played with the Avalanche.
