The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Player's Association are reportedly in serious talks about where certain NHL games will take place next season.
TSN insider Darren Dreger is now reporting that 5 different countries are being viewed as legitimate possibilities to host NHL games next season, and perhaps even more surprising is the fact that 6 different NHL teams are expected to participate.
According to Dreger the countries on the table are China, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Switzerland. Both China and Sweden hosted NHL games this year with the Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings playing in China while the Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators played in Sweden.
While China may not seem like the most obvious destination for NHL hockey, with the Winter Olympic Games coming to Beijing in 2020 and a massive untapped market in that part of the world for hockey, it feels almost like a guarantee that they will be included.
The question becomes which other countries will get a game, and which teams will be playing there?
