One team that hasn't been talked about in the rumor mill much as of late is the Chicago Blackhawks. General manager Stan Bowman has been known for his "master" manoeuvring over the years - making huge deals to bring his team over the edge, and save the team from cap hell in the summer.
One name that has come up today is that of Montreal Canadiens' center Tomas Plekanec. The near 600 point veteran has racked up 955 games in his career, proving to be one of the most important two-way players the Habs have had over the last decade.
RDS' Francois Gagnon believes that the impending free agent will be traded prior to the deadline - and reporter Jimmy Murphy outlines the clear connection between the Hawks and their former executive turned Habs GM Marc Bergevin.
He also states that he has intel stating that the Blackhawks have expressed interest in Plekanec previously, and believes that this is a real situation to monitor leading into February.
