The Ottawa Senators and Edmonton Oilers have nothing to lose anymore. The Sens have lost 16 of their last 19 contests, and the Oilers put an end to a four-game winning streak last night after a long Christmas break.
When teams have nothing to lose anymore, that's when fans see blockbuster trades that will help them in the future.
Sens GM Pierre Dorion is more and more interested in moving forward Mife Hoffman, but, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Oilers might not be the right match for this specific move, though other experts once believed he might be traded to Edmonton.
"I worry about writing this kind of sentence because things change and it blows up in my face, but it doesn’t seem like there’s an Edmonton-Ottawa match for Mike Hoffman – curious to see if a Carolina or a St. Louis looks at him."
Now, it wouldn't be the first time someone predicted a trade wouldn't take place and it did, so we ask you: do you think the Oilers will make a move to land Hoffman?
Or will he end up in Carolina or St. Louis?
