Trade grades: Minnesota Wild

What grade would you give GM Chuck Fletcher for the trades he made in 2017?

Sportsnet columnist Sean McIndoe (Down Goes Brown) made his annual trade grades for every NHL team, and he gave an overall mark of C- to Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher. He made a total of seven trades.

According to McIndoe, the best deal Fletcher made was sending Marco Scandella, Jason Pominville and a fourth round pick in 2018 to the Buffalo Sabres for Tyler Ennis, Marcus Foligno and a third round pick in 2018. It seems like this deal worked better for Buffalo on the ice, but the Wild needed to get some cap space, so for them it was a good deal that had to be done.

The worst deal would be the trade they made with the Arizona Coyotes to acquire forward Martin Hanzal at the trade deadline. They gave up a first round pick in 2017 (Pierre-Olivier Joseph), a second round pick in 2018 and a fourth round pick in 2019 for a guy that did well in 20 regular season games with the Wild (13 points) but only registered one point in five playoff games. Hanzal signed as a free agent with the Dallas Stars this summer, but at the time of the deal, Minnesota were all in going into the playoffs, so they had to make it.

What do you think, Wild fans? Are you happy with the job Chuck Fletcher has done this year?
