A young hockey prospect has just received one of the greatest Christmas gifts a young hockey player could hope for, a brand new National Hockey League contract.
A report from the folks over at Cap Friendly has revealed that the Ottawa Senators have signed undrafted free-agent Aaron Luchuk, a 20-year-old center that was currently playing in the Ontario Hockey League.
Luchuk had previously been overlooked by every single team in the NHL, having never been drafted despite having a number of respectable seasons as a member of the Windsor Spitfires, but for whatever reason the Senators felt now was the time to pull the trigger on the young forward.
As a result Luchuk is now the proud owner of a three-year entry-level contract in the NHL, and that has to be considered one of the greatest Christmas gifts of his entire life this far.
In 33 OHL games this season he has 31 goals and 25 assists for a total of 56 points.
