From the moment he was introduced on stage to the Vegas faithful at the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Marc Andre Fleury has been a fan favorite. Expectations heading into last season were that Fleury would help guide a young and rudderless expansion team and help them establish themselves in a tough Western Conference. What ended up happening of course was that Fleury had probably the best individual season of his NHL career and the Golden Knights, somehow… SOMEWAY reached the Stanley Cup Final. Incredible.

Even if Fleury never plays another game for Vegas, he’ll go down in history as the team’s most important and most popular player from its inaugural campaign. He’s the face of the franchise and inarguably the team’s most popular player. All that said… we’re not sure how Vegas fans will react to seeing their beloved Flower donning…. San Jose Sharks colors. Say what!?!?!

Check it out:

That’s…. weird. I DON’T LIKE IT!

Looks like Florida Panthers winger Jonathan Huberdeau joined him as well. I mean, that’s weird… but seeing Flower in a Sharks jersey… that’s just too much to handle.

Marc Andre Fleury and Jonathan Huberdeau suited up in San Jose Sharks colours at a charity event in Quebec.

As the post says, this is from a charity event in Fleury’s home province of Quebec.

So… what do you think Vegas fans? Beginning to sympathize with Pittsburgh Penguins fans a bit? Remember how weird it was seeing Fleury donning Vegas colors for the first time? It’s deja vu all over again…

It's going to be an interesting season between the pipes in Vegas in 2018-19, but hopefully not as interesting as 2017-18. Due to injuries, the Golden Knights dressed five goaltenders in their first season with Fleury, Malcolm Subban, Maxime Legace, Oscar Dansk and teenager Dylan Ferguson all seeing time. Fleury got the lion's share of the crease starting 46 games, but assuming both he and Subban and healthy in 2018-19, it'll be interesting to see how they split starts. Fleury signed a three year contract extension this offseason, so it's clear that the team doesn't expect him to just fade into the background, but at the same time Subban acquitted himself well in his first bit of extended NHL action. Interesting times in Vegas...
