Virtanen gets falsely accused by fan, who then gets roasted by the Canucks forward!

You better know what you're talking about when you face Virtanen!

There are some people out there who appear to have a blast firing shots at popular folks, and trying to ruin their reputation. Bardown has found one that tried to get to Vancouver Canucks young winger Jake Virtanen, but it didn't go according to his plans.

A Twitter user by the name of Trevor Knapp took it upon himself to share a gutless tweet about the Canucks forward, stating that Virtanen was at a local bar called the ‘Roxy’ last night where he was “scoring a bunch of women”. This is all according to Knapp, of course. He then went on to compare it to his play on the ice, saying: "If only he could score on the ice as well."

Here is a picture of the tweet from Trevor Knapp, as made public by the website Bardown

Virtanen wasn’t going to let this one slide, and called out the troll with no mercy.

He even asked Irfaan Gaffar from Sportsnet to help Trevor Knapp, who is said to be a BCIT Broadcast/Journalism 2018 Alumni, as noted on his Twitter profile.

Clearly the kid was caught by a Virtanen’s doppelganger, but did not check his sources to make such a statement... He learned the hard way.

And the great thing about it is that several fans, not only Canucks ones, sided with the winger, who appeared to take a page out of Boston Bruins' Brad Marchand's book. The Bruins pest has never shied away from a Twitter fight and always called out his trolls on social media.

It has been a good summer for the 22-year-old forward. Later in July, the Canucks announced a new, two-year contract for Virtanen with an average annual value (AAV) of $1.25 million. Last year, Virtanen averaged 0.12 goals per game and 0.24 points per game. He posted 10 goals and 20 points in 75 games.

Canucks management is hoping to see him breakout in his fourth season with the team. The former first round pick, who was selected sixth overall in the 2014 NHL Entry draft, has at least shown that he can fire back and hit right where it hurts in the case of Trevor Knapp and his false accusations.

Canucks fans should have high hopes for this season.
