The biggest mystery in Toronto this season must certainly be Mitch Marner's production, as the young forward still hasn't found a way to produce on a regular basis like he did in his rookie campaign. The 20-year old forward has only scored two goals so far this season, with 18 assists for 20 total points in 34 games played. Last year, he scored 19 goals and added 42 assists for 61 total points in 77 games. Leafs management team, and fans, were expecting a lot more out of him for his sophomore season.
Marner produced four points in his last five games, thanks to a three point night against the Pittsburgh Penguins on December 9th, but those four points are the only ones he produced in his last 12 games, which is far from being enough, especially during Auston Matthews absence.
Head coach Mike Babcock must be scratching his head lately, giving the fact that he gives Marner all the opportunities to produce.
Drafted fourth overall by the Leafs in 2015, Marner has produced 81 points in 111 games played in the NHL so far, and added four points in six playoff games.
What do you think, Leafs Fans? What should the Maple Leafs do with him?
