The Minnesota Wild have assigned defenseman Ryan Murphy to the Iowa Wild (AHL), the team announce on Saturday. Murphy registered two points in nine games played in the NHL this season, and 11 points in 18 games played in the AHL.
Drafted 12th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2011, Murphy played 160 games in the NHL with the Hurricanes and the Wild, registering 39 points. At the AHL level, the Aurora, Ontario native registered 79 points in 112 games played (regular season and playoffs included). He was signed as a free agent by the Wild last summer, after he got traded to the Calgary Flames and bought out.
The Wild are playing tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks.
